Most of us have found comfort in hymns that remind
us, once again, of God’s attributes, of His names, of His unchanging
character. We sing of Him as “A Mighty
Fortress,” or as our Rock; we rejoice that He is unchanging, and we never cease
to be amazed at His grace. Rose Publishing’s recent publication “100
Names of God,” by Christopher D. Hudson, is a volume of 207 pages, totally
devoted to exploring its topic. The book is quite beautiful. Each section begins with a title, followed by
a verse illustrating the meaning of the name under consideration. There is then a discussion, followed by a
searching question and the section ends with a prayer, plus suggestions for
further Bible reading. As well, the
readings have been organized into weeklong themes. . For those who are linguistically studious,
there is an Index to Names and Strong’s numbers. The
book would be suitable for a daily study by an individual or family, or for
other small group devotional times. I received an advance copy in return for a frank review.
